April 3, 2018. Boston - Award Winning Mexican singer Veronica Robles receives The Boston Foundation 2018 Live Arts Boston (LAB) grant to support her project “Veronica Robles All Female Mariachi Concert Singing Songs of the World”
Renowned Mexican singer and arts and culture Influencer Veronica Robles was awarded the 2018 Live Arts Boston (LAB) grant to support her project “Veronica Robles All Female Mariachi” and the concert “Singing Songs of the World”.
“It is an honor for me to receive such a competitive and high-ranking grant. Only 65 out of 351 amazing and talented artists were selected and, OMG, I am one of them. We were chosen through an open application process with a review panel that included local artists, presenters, and producers,” said Robles with excitement.
This grant will support Robles in forming the first ever all female Mariachi band in Boston, who will perform a concert in the unique Mariachi music style featuring Robles’ powerful vocals. The event will take place at Boston City Hall Plaza in the fall 2018.
“The purpose of this concert is to gather together as community and sing along traditional songs of the world to inspire love and unity. I will try to sing the song in the language of the country of origin, therefore I will meet with small groups from the different communities that include China, Vietnam, Brazil, Haiti, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Colombia, Israel, Italy, Ireland, United States and Mexico,” Robles commented.
Ms. Robles will be auditioning local professional female musicians of all backgrounds that play violin, trumpet, guitar, and bass, who are interested in joining this unique Mariachi ensemble. This will be a paid position.
